About the Company

American Efficient is one of the largest aggregators of digital energy resources in the United States with over 80 million unique energy installations in its portfolio. To develop, manage, and trade this portfolio, we have built a software platform that can process millions of transactions a month and can dynamically forecast energy demand and energy prices years into the future. Nevertheless, we know our systems can and must do more as we continue to grow and diversify the energy technologies we work with and the markets where we operate. We are looking for a distinctive, full-stack software engineer to help us build and maintain the underpinnings of America’s transition to a digital grid.

  • Our software platform is entirely linux, we use open source tools in Python, R, Angular, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and we support those that contribute back to the open source community.
  • We are hosted in Amazon Web Services using docker containers, and we are open-minded about how you evolve our technology infrastructure to improve our performance.
  • Upcoming scientific computing projects may require co-located data centers, and you must be comfortable with basic hardware and computer networking to lead these integration projects.
  • We structure esoteric financial products, so finance experience will speed your learning curve.
  • More importantly, you must be a fast learner, hungry, creative and practical about writing new software, and comfortable teaching yourself theory with books we will happily buy for you.
  • You will be working with one other senior engineer with a background in finance, several financial experts with hands-on software experience, and a team of part-time consultants.
  • We have an entrepreneurial and fast-paced work environment, and you must be comfortable setting your own priorities for the business and communicating them with the rest of the team.

American Efficient has built a distinctive team committed to driving the transition to a digital energy future. We’re excited to welcome others to join us on this journey.

American Efficient is an equal employment opportunity employer. We are committed to equal treatment of all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
