Senior Developer
MavenVC is hiring a senior developer to run a new Canada-based development team with an experience CTO, brilliant technical mentors, and a technical founder. You will be working to build a technical team in Toronto and across Canada that can build technology to support a growing community of early-stage startup founders, technical experts, and business leaders. You will deploy software that works on behalf of its users, leveraging best practices in multiple disciplines including data science, psychology, communications theory, and predictive analytics, and you will have the opportunity to guide and mentor the next generation of technical talent, supported by technical leadership from organisations like NASA and the University of Cambridge. You will be a trusted peer to an international network that includes venture capitalists, former and current startup founders, and a business-side team that has a proven track record monetizing the code you ship.
The role
As a senior developer, you will:
• Build and run and team that constructs distributed systems, carries out large-scale and high-volume data analysis, deals with multiple machines, and comfortably debugs live systems
• Demonstrate a mastery of HTTP and TCP/IP with good RESTful APIs
• Use your excellent coding ability to lead, in Python or equivalent
• Understand relational and non-relational databases, columnar stores, caching, key value stores, etc.
• Use your experience of Git and coding as part of an agile team
• Continuously integrate environments and deploy test-driven development product
Skills:
• 8+ years experience
• A passion for client-side development and working in any level of the stack – you’re both a software engineer and a leader
• Experience building, testing, and debugging complex systems as the head of a team
• Supreme comfort with responsive web development and modern browser technologies
