Position: Cloud Automation Engineer (Raleigh / Remote)

Description

The Managed Cloud Automation team is looking for a thoughtful Engineer to help us change the way enterprises manage infrastructure at scale. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for building solutions that enable 2W Operations Engineers to better monitor, maintain, and update critical systems that our customers depend on. This means designing, building, and deploying tools and services (microservices and APIs!) that make those tasks easier and faster. Our customers have a huge variety of infrastructure needs that grow daily, so we need creative, and open-minded engineers who can work across teams to deliver customer-oriented solutions. This role is best suited for highly self-directed individuals with solid Software Engineering fundamentals and experience solving IT operational challenges, especially at enterprise scale.

We prefer candidates in Raleigh, however 2nd Watch does have a strong culture of remote work, and WFH flexibility, so a remote position may be possible for the right candidate.

  • Computer Science B.S. degree, or equivalent experience
  • Operations Role Experience (Sys Admin, Sys Engineer, IT Support)
  • AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, VPC Networking, EC2, ELB)
  • Python skills (Also nice: Go, JavaScript, Ruby)
  • RESTful API build and design experience (Swagger)
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (CloudFormation, Terraform, Boto)
  • Configuration Management experience (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Familiarity with Container Technologies (Docker, LXC/LXD, rocket)
  • Prides self on creating high quality, documented, tested solutions.
