Junior Developer

MavenVC is hiring a junior developer to join a new Canada-based development team. If you are interested in fleshing an early prototype out into

Your will be working with a technical team in Toronto and across Canada to build tech that can support a growing community of early-stage startup founders, technical experts, and business leaders. You will gain experience in building semi-autonomous software that leverages best practices in data science, psychology, communications theory, and predictive analytics, and this is an opportunity for ambitious junior developers to receive mentorship from some excellent technical mentors from UofT and Cambridge. You will be supported by a rich international network of venture capitalists and Founders, and work alongside a business-side team that has a proven track record fundraising and monetizing the code you ship.

The role
As a software developer, you will:
• Build and distribute systems, carry out large-scale and high-volume data analysis, deal with multiple machines, and debugging live systems
• Develop your knowledge of HTTP and TCP/IP and good RESTful API
• Use your strong coding ability in Python or equivalent
• Understand relational and non-relational databases, columnar stores, caching, key value stores, etc.
• Use your experience of Git and coding as part of an agile team
• Continuously integrate environments and deploy test-driven development product

Skills:
• 2 years experience
• A passion for client-side development, though you can work in any level of the stack – you’re a software engineer not just a webdev
• Strong JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
• Experience building, testing, and debugging complex systems as a part of a team
• Experience with responsive web development and modern browser technologies
