Emily Neufeld

Data Scientist/Developer

Vancouver, Canada

Summary

I'm a mathematician with a passion for formal logic and cryptography; however, life has led me to a career of data science and programming - which, lately, has largely involved coding with Python.

I've been coding for about five years now, but am relatively new to Python (1.5 years); nevertheless, it has quickly risen to the top of my list of go-to tools for tackling complex data science projects and automating personal tools.

My skillset includes expertise with pandas and extensive experience using Python to cope with large data sets from both SQL and NoSQL. I've got experience with libraries geared toward data science like scikit-learn, and also have experience with using APIs through the requests module and using Python to interact with cloud technologies like the Google Cloud Platform.

Experience

Python experience (more details to follow):

Ongoing: A personal project with the aim of classifying midi files of classical music based on era (Baroque, Classical, Romantic). Still in very early stages.

Ongoing: A personal project for automating notifications triggered by stock trading indicators. Eventually the hope is to automate entire trading strategies and devise an autonomous trading system.

December 2016 - July 2017: A data scientist job at a precision agriculture start up. The role was a mixture of data analysis and backend development and data modelling.
