Experience

I graduated with my Programming & Development degree in May 2019 and have yet to accumulate any professional experience. Listed below are the projects that best showcase my abilities thus far.

I have over two years of experience with Python. My most extensive project to date is called GLAPS(Geographic Location Attribute Predictor System. I worked mainly on the back-end team to create a Keras machine learning model that predicts the value of a home dependent upon whether or not a major/minor baseball stadium exists in the county. Initially, the plan was to create a time-series model to predict the value of homes a certain number of years after the stadium was built. However, the census records that we used to obtain the home values did not give us enough data to create the time-series. I found this to be an opportunity for resiliency and problem solving. We instead used data from 2017 (the most recent data available at the time) and utilized a regression model.

We created a live RESTful API that the program calls to make the prediction. We also utilized a Google Maps API and used Flask to create the API and web app. The project is hosted on pythonanywhere. See https://github.com/milsteam4144/GLAPS for code and visit www.glaps.live

I have also created projects in C# and am experienced in SQL databases as I have implemented them into many projects. I created a command-line game in C# (Odyssey Game) that uses a SQL db to save and reload the game state.I familiar with using Git both in command line and Github. I am CompTIA Security+ certified and SAS Base Programmer Certified.

I am currently learning Django and improving my front-end skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I plan on becoming familiar with NoSQL databases in the very near future as well.
