Graphic Designer, Kilby Design Co. (May 2018 to Present)

Electrical Engineer IV, FlightSafety (June 2011 to May 2018)

Concurrently supported fielded simulators at locations all over the world. This included resolving issues escalated to engineering, repairing simulator components and instruments, maintaining version-controlled documentation, and liaising with internal and external customers.

Developed training materials for new engineers and instruction manuals for technicians and customers.

Worked to a strict project schedule on concurrent projects and provided weekly status updates.

Lead research and development design effort and presented proposals to the director of engineering. Projects included: redesigning the DC power distribution system to reduce labor hours, material costs, and mechanical footprint; developing a new distributed I/O system to increase system diagnostics, reduce labor hours, and modernize the simulators; and modernizing the maintenance and instructor area lighting.

Ensured product designs complied with ANSI, ROHS, and CE standards.

Worked in a group of engineers to design the electrical hardware system on simulators for everything except aircraft avionics. Design effort included meeting with vendors to explore new product options, firmware development in Visual Basic and the C programming language, risk analysis, cable design, printed circuit board (PCB) design, computer network design, AC and DC power distribution design, pilot and instructor audio/video design, lighting design, and simulated instrument design.
