Python Bot Developer for Internet of Things Services

People Power Company is an 8-year-old Silicon Valley start-up that creates the most cutting edge smart home and building services sold through massive, iconic service provider brands around the world. We bring AI to IoT.

We are looking for a clever and enthusiastic machine learning and application-minded software engineer who is interested in helping create meaningful people-centric services for security, energy, and senior care, shifting the industry into a new era of computing where intelligence surrounds us. These AI-enhanced services are delivered through IoT bots which produce intelligent and personal outcomes that people love.

As this is a high profile position, you will work directly with the President & CTO of People Power Company in the creation of bot-enable services, written primarily in Python. This interaction will accelerate your career path as you capture the skills and mindset necessary to drive a high tech start-up company.

Your contributions will be very public, delivered not only into the private homes of end consumers as services they depend upon daily, but also exposed to other bot developers who want to create and deploy their own bot-enabled IoT services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain direct exposure to professional software development processes, build up a portfolio of publicly referenceable source code, and capture the experience of managing an open source repository where other developers will look up to your work. You will be expected to present and evangelize accomplishments of your work to telco, cable operator, and utility businesses, helping hone your business acumen in front of serious household brand names. People Power currently has tier-1 consumer service provider brands as customers on 4 continents, representing tens of millions of people your software will be in front of.

Because of the open source mindset of People Power Company, there may also be opportunities for you to coordinate with universities to publish your work and research at People Power in academic journals, further enhancing your professional credibility and career.

You might be a great fit if you have any of this past experience:
• Developing projects and code that have been published in open source repositories.
• Past work or internships in QA, software engineering, Python applications, and machine learning.
• Creating and delivering real products, not just academics and theory.
• Empathizing and learning from end users to design sticky and engaging user experiences.

Work conditions
• People Power is a globally distributed software company where team members have the benefit of working from home, or from wherever they feel comfortable - as long as a good Internet connection is available.
• You and the President / CTO of People Power will meet and work together in person regularly in Kirkland, WA.
• Work at your own pace and on your own schedule. People Power holds an international All Hands Call on Mondays.
• You will gain skills to work with a globally-distributed team (U.S., China, Taiwan, Korea, Europe, Australia, Canada, etc.). International travel may be required from time-to-time.
