Senior Full Stack Developer

The Carina team is looking for a full stack developer to help us build the next platform for Managed Containers at Rackspace. We need a leader to help drive decisionsand implement significant portions of the API, control plane and underlying data models for our managed container offerings. Working effectively as a remote employee in a collaborative environment, especially on open-source software, is an absolute must-have skill.

Ideal candidates should have experience with contemporary web frameworks like Python with Flask or Django or Node with Express or Restify. Candidates should also be comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, integrated testing and have a passion for delivering quality products. Experience with modern data stores, including but not limited to Redis, Mongo, MySQL/PostgreSQL/etc, Cassandra, or others is required. Candidates must be able to articulate strengths and weaknesses of different datastores, and be able to express how to define and design schemas in accordance with business objectives.

We also expect candidates to have experience leveraging tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, for configuration management and provisioning automation. We make heavy use and need our candidates to be forward-thinking with how we automate our platforms.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience architecting and building an application from the front-end to the back-end. Candidates with experience deploying such an application to modern clouds are strongly preferred.

• 4 or more years of experience in building production level platforms with Python, Node or Ruby. Python is preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of Web Application architecture and design
• Experience with modern frameworks like Flask, Django, Express, React, AngularJS or Ember.js
• Familiarity with configuration and provisioning tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt
• Familiarity with frontend build tool such as Grunt, gulp.js, webpack, and Browserify
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass or Less
• Familiarity with JavaScript front-end testing
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is greatly valued
