Founding Data Scientist

At Amplified AI, you will be part of a small international team operating primarily via Slack & GitHub and communicating directly with the CTO & CEO. As a founding data scientist, you will work closely with the CTO, recommending and implementing evidence-based product developments based on rapidly designing, testing, and iterating cutting edge machine learning algorithms. You will analyze, visualize, and interpret text-based data sources along with more traditional structured data, and accordingly integrate this into our products. This is a position with room to grow for the right person, with the opportunity to take increasing responsibility while working as part of a small and dynamic team.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone with a MSc or PhD in deep learning, machine learning or similar, and someone who can take that expertise and apply it to real world problems in a fast-moving environment. We’d like you to have demonstrable experience applying effective and innovative machine learning algorithms in a research or business setting, and we would prefer if you have good experience with deep neural nets. In particular, we’d like someone who is comfortable working with large and unstructured data, especially text. A bit of NLP knowledge is essential. In terms of programming, we want someone who has experience with deep learning in a major library (e.g. TensorFlow, Theano, Caffe, Torch, DL4J) but you’d need to be willing to transition to a Python library.

Things we like:

We use Amazon Web Services and are intent on being agile and efficient. We're using Docker and Ansible to automate and deploy, and we like to mix our own solutions with the best open source tools. We want someone who will be happy working in an environment that values good software engineering, taking the time to automate workflows, data pipelines, and produce replicable and extensible code with good version control practices and unit testing. We’re excited by the rapid development of TensorFlow and integration of Keras, as well as the development of PyTorch and we’d like you to be as well. As a team, we think critically to solve tough challenges and we need someone who can thrive in a context of diving deep into new industries/domains to intelligently architect AI solutions. While our initial focus is on getting to market, we also think some primary research is important, as well as contributing to FOSS that we use.
